Monday November 9, 2009

The regular monthly meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held November 9, 2009, 2009 at 9:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 99 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

President Doris Frye called the meeting to order at 9:00am.

The following persons were present:

Doris Frye, President

Hal Geltmacher, Vice-President

Gerda Fitts, Treasurer

Sharon Barrett, Secretary

Eva Fae Cooper, Trustee

Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator

Attendance was taken via the expense voucher.

After reviewing the agenda and adding Preliminary Budget to New Business, Gerda Fitts moved to accept the agenda as amended, Eva Cooper seconded the motion, and the motion carried unanimously.

The minutes from the October12, 2009 meeting were reviewed, after reviewing the minutes, and having no corrections to be made, Eva Cooper made the motion to accept the minutes as presented, Hal Geltmacher seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

Administrator Coulsell presented the Administrator’s Report for October/November.  She reported that her story hour continued with a new group of Preschool and Headstart students. The new free Courier service contract had begun for the Inter-library loan service the Library provides.  This service was saving the Library on postage fees.  The Library now has improved internet speed, provided by the State Library and MORE.net.  Administrator Coulsell has spoken with the State Library Technology Consultant Carl Wingo about the purchase of a children’s computer for the Children’s Area, this machine would be complete with Spanish language software.  Coulsell is in the process of ordering a new computer for cataloging the library materials.  She reported that the building had been power washed, and the north parking area would be repaired soon.  Coulsell is getting quotes for 2010 health insurance premiums.  Administrator Coulsell reported that the Library will be closing November 25th at noon, and all day November 26th, Thanksgiving Day.

 

Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Report for the Library, the balance as of November 9, 2009 was $51,861.70.  This reflects the balance of both of the Library’s accounts.

Administrator Coulsell presented the Library’s Circulation Report for the month of October.  There were 34 new cards issued with a total circulation for the month of October to be 4893. She noted that there were record numbers of check-outs in Adult Fiction and Incoming Inter-Library loans.

Under President’s Report—there was nothing to report.        

Under Association Report—Library Association President Sharon Barrett appointed Gerda Fitts to the task of nominating committee for the election of officers for the Hickory County Library Association, year 2010.  This meeting will be held just prior to the December 14, 2009 meeting of the Hickory County Library Board meeting.

Under Friends Report—President Doris Frye reported on behalf of absent Friends President Mary McCoy, the Friends had a successful book sale; their next meeting will be December 14, 2009.

Under Old Business, Administrator Coulsell reported that the remaining portion of the Equalization budget had been considered.  Two computers will come from this budget.

Under New Business, Administrator Coulsell presented the Board with a Preliminary Budget; this was reviewed and tabled until the December meeting.

 

Having no further business, and hearing no public comment the meeting adjourned at 10:15am.
