Monday, August 10, 2009
The
regular monthly meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held August 10, 2009, 2009 at 9:00am in the Hickory County
Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 99 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.
Prior to the Regular Meeting of the Board, Hermitage Mayor Jim Fitts spoke about the 2010
Census.
Vice-President Hal Geltmacher called the meeting to
order at 9:15am.
The following persons were present:
Hal Geltmacher, Vice-President
Gerda
Fitts, Treasurer
Eva Fae Cooper, Trustee
Stacy
Coulsell, Library Administrator
Attendance was taken via the expense voucher. President
Doris Frye and Secretary Sharon Barrett were absent.
After reviewing
the agenda, Gerda Fitts moved to accept the agenda as presented, Eva Cooper seconded the motion, and the motion carried unanimously.
The minutes from the July 13, 2009 meeting were reviewed, after reviewing the minutes, and
having no corrections to be made, Eva Cooper made the motion to accept the minutes as presented, Gerda Fitts seconded, and
the motion carried unanimously.
Administrator Coulsell presented the Administrator’s
Report for August. She reported that the new shelving for the Children’s Area was in place.
She had also ordered new furniture for the Children’s area and it was in place. She noted that some additional
shelving had been ordered for the Native American collection. Administrator Coulsell reported that the
new carpeting for the Library would be installed during the week of August 24th thru August 30th.
Also during this time the Library will be closed for the entire week. Coulsell noted that the Library
had hosted a Scholastic Book Fair and would be closing that up this week and returning those items. The
Library receives books as profit for hosting the Book Fair. Administrator Coulsell reported that she was
finalizing the Grant Report for the Microfilm Reader that the Library had purchased, once received the Library will receive
the final portion of the grant.
Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Report
for the Library, the balance as of August 10, 2009 was $84,562.24. This reflects the balance of both of
the Library’s accounts.
After hearing the Financial Report Hal Geltmacher made
the motion to accept the Library’s Financial Report as given. Eva Cooper seconded the motion,
all in favor and the motion carried unanimously.
Administrator Coulsell
presented the Library’s Circulation Report for the month of July. There were 48 new cards issued
with a total circulation for the month of July to be 4837. She noted that the Library had record numbers
in circulation in Video, Adult-Non Fiction and Inter-Library Loan usage.
Under
President’s Report—there was nothing to report as Doris Frye was absent
Under
Association Report—there was nothing to report as Association President Sharon Barrett was absent.
Under Friends---Administrator Coulsell reported on behalf of the Friends that the Friends
group was having a special program with local author Richard Sunderwirth and his book “The Burning of Osceola, Missouri”
later that day.
Under Old Business—the Board discussed plans for
the Library’s Equalization funds, and possibilities for the remaining balance of those funds.
Under New Business Hal Geltmacher and Eva Cooper from Nominating Committee for Election of
New Officers for the 2009-2010 year presented the slate of officers. After much discussion the Board moved
to postpone the Annual Meeting for the election of officers and setting of the tax rate to just prior to the
September Meeting of the Hickory County Board of Trustees to be held September 14, 2009.
Hearing
no public comment and having no further business, the meeting adjourned at 9:45am.
The
next meeting is to be September 14, 2009.
